Annabel Kilner has recently been promoted to commercial director at online furniture retailer Made.com, having previously been country manager in the UK and head of business development before that. The business looks to offer original design-led furniture at affordable prices. Kilner began her career at innovation consultancy FreshMinds and counts MyDeco and Lastminute.com founder Brent Hoberman as her mentor. She says Hoberman, who backed the launch of Made.com and is now chairman, and the brand’s chief operating officer Philippe Chainieux have both been “hugely influential” in her career. After joining Made.com, she helped double the company’s turnover in a single year. Recognising that no woman is an island, she adds: “Asking for help from people is a fortunate position to be in. I now do it as much as possible and am constantly seeking advice, especially from smart marketers.”
