A career marketer, Chris Duncan was recently installed in the new position of chief customer officer, following a restructure at News UK. A new focus on growing audiences will suit his strengths as, in his previous role as CMO, he was responsible for growing digital subscriptions at The Times and The Sunday Times to more than 400,000 and increasing revenue from both print and digital readers. The market is not without its difficulties though. He says: “The publishing industry is undergoing huge and unprecedented strategic shifts, as is the world of customer marketing. Running one within the other is a sizeable challenge.”

Best advice: “Better to regret having tried something than regretting what could have been.”
