In September 2013 Gavin Patterson was named CEO of BT Group, a rare instance of a marketer leading an organisation. But his achievements more than warranted the top job. Patterson joined BT in 2004 from cable TV company Telewest (now Virgin Media). He championed the development of BT’s digital TV service and led brand strategy for BT Infinity. He admits he blends logic with “honed instinct”. He has also served as president of the Advertising Association.
