Gerard Tempest has recently co-founded a new hospitality business called Pear Tree Leisure after years of working in major leisure companies. He joined Carnival UK from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, where he was sales and marketing director. He joined an exploding industry – the number of Europeans taking cruises hit 6.4 million in 2013 and nearly two million of those were British. Tempest’s remit was to overhaul digital sales, distribution and marketing operations. He has restructured the marketing and analytics team, bringing on board leading practitioners.
