As marketing director for SCA Hygiene Products, Nicola Coronado is responsible for household brand names such as Plenty, Velvet, Cushelle and Bodyform. Most recently she launched Bodyform’s ‘femoji’ campaign, which aims to provide a “practical solution” and break down some of the taboos around periods. As part of the initiative, the brand also encouraged people to sign a petition to support the cause. With a strong belief that brands have a responsibility to do good both in the wider world and within the company, her proudest moments include one of her staff being shortlisted for the Rising Star of the Year award at the Masters of Marketing in 2015, which she describes as “a fantastic achievement for Alice but also a great opportunity to showcase [SCA] as an employer of choice for high-potential graduates”. She is also proud of the fact that seven million trees have been planted as part of Velvet’s ‘3 Tree Promise’.
Lightbulb moment: “While it’s imperative that we stay abreast of emerging tech, such opportunities are merely distractions if they do not support you in delivering your strategy. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.”
