VisitBritain campaign to boost city breaks

VisitBritain is building on the popularity of city breaks in the UK with a new campaign that will give travellers reasons to visit cities across England. It breaks today (September 24).

The campaign follows research by the tourism agency that found eight out of ten of the most visited destinations in England are cities. It says that last year 22.8 million people made overnight visits to eight British cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

The campaign, created in-house by VisitBritain’s Enjoy England division, will run on its website www.enjoyengland.com/citybreaks. It will concentrate on nine categories including arts and culture, music and romance.

It will also be supported by a 52-page supplement in The Guardian on Saturday, press advertising, direct mail, online and events.
