Coca-Cola has handed its £40m UK media planning and buying account to Vizeum. The agency beat Starcom, Universal McCann and Naked Communications to the business.

Vizeum previously handled the brand’s media planning business but will now oversee both media planning and buying.

Universal McCann has held the soft drink giant’s media buying account since 2000. The account covers Coke brands, including Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Sprite and Minute Maid.

ZenithOptimedia was forced to withdraw from the original pitch because of a potential conflict of client interests.

Coke’s UK advertising account, which is handled by roster agencies Mother, Lowe, Weiden & Kennedy and VCCP, is unaffected by the review.
