Vodafone has reappointed OMD to handle its global media planning and buying account.

The appointment comes just six months after rival, Carat, was awarded the business as part of a review of the mobile operator’s European media business in June last year.

OMD had held the account previously.

A spokesperson for Vodafone says: “After an extensive review, Vodafone has appointed OMD as its global media network,” adding that there will be a “transitional period” while the agency takes over control of the account, implemented on a market by market basis.

Vodafone also shifted its global strategic advertising business back to WPP in March, following a pitch against McCann Erickson and incumbent Bogle Bartle Hegarty.

In July, Vodafone group chief marketing officer Frank Rovekamp left the company to be replaced by Talk Talk MD Wendy Becker, who takes over on 1 September.
