Vodafone reviews global digital ad account

Vodafone is understood to be reviewing its global digital advertising business. The review could see the mobile operator expand its roster of digital agencies.

Vodafone currently uses Dare to create the bulk of its global digital ad campaigns.

The review is being led by Vodafone head of global communications Patrick Jubb and is believed to be in early stages.

Dare won Vodafone UK’s digital advertising account in 2006, following a three-way pitch against Agency.com and Modem Media. Its position as the mobile operator’s UK digital agency is not affected by the review.

The move follows a number of management changes at Vodafone. Earlier this week, the mobile operator announced its UK chief executive, Nick Read, would leave his role to take charge of the telecom business in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. Vodafone’s chief executive of the Netherlands, Guy Laurence, will replace him.

Meanwhile, chief executive of Vodafone Middle East and Africa, Morten Lundal, will now be chief executive of Central Europe and Africa. The changes take effect from January 1.

In the UK, Vodafone’s overall advertising account is worth an estimated £58m.
