Vodafone signs mobile music

vodafoneVodafone has signed a deal with mobile music company Omnifone to make more than 1 million songs available on its new range of handsets. Omnifone’s MusicStation will offer Vodafone users unlimited downloads for £1.99 per week.

The exclusive deal with Omnifone allows Vodafone customers to download tracks from Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, EMI Music and Warner Music Group direct to their handsets. The service will be available on all Vodafone’s new handsets, as well as existing 2.5G and 3G models.

Vodafone UK chief marketing officer Tim Yates says of the unlimited download offer: “This announcement is a first for music on mobile in the UK and means a fundamental change to the way people experience music on their phones.”
