Vodafone UK makes head of mobile advertising role redundant

Vodafone UK has made Shan Henderson, its head of mobile advertising and industry development, redundant.

Henderson’s UK ad role has been axed with his responsibilities now merged into a global position. Sources close to the situation indicate Vodafone is keen to take advantage of an increasing number of global ad campaigns as well as remain as lean as possible.

Henderson’s responsibilities will now fall to Erik de Kroon, head of marketing for internet discovery at Vodafone Group, who reports into internet services director Pieter Knook.

Henderson joined Vodafone as deputy head of digital from OMD in March 2007. Since joining the operator he has worked on a series of initiatives including developing Yahoo’s role as an exclusive ad sales partner, working closely with industry bodies GSMA, MMA and IAB on industry measurement and standards as well as pushing through a raft of new mobile ad formats.

Vodafone declined to comment.
