VW names global marketing head
Volkswagen has named its UK chief Simon Thomas as its new global marketing head.
Thomas will vacate his current role as managing director of Volkswagen’s UK operations in September to relocate to its international operations base in Germany.
He replaces Jurgen Stackmann and will oversee all marketing activity for the Volkswagen Group and Passenger car brands.
Previously Thomas was responsible for all Nissan’s marketing activity in Great Britain and Canada – in separate roles. He then joined Volkswagen in 2011.
Thomas says: “During the past two years we have grown sales and market share and made many organisational changes to ensure that we are better equipped to tackle the inevitable future challenges and developments in the automotive industry.’
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Group also today (12 July) reported that its number of vehicle deliveries in the first half of 2013 hit 4.7 million worldwide, representing an increase of 5.5 per cent for the period.
