Walkers asks customers to tweet for free crisps

Walkers is asking customers to tweet to get their hands on a free packet of crisps, giving people a chance to sample one of the six finalist flavours in its “Do us a flavour” campaign.

The three tweet-activated vending machine will be located at bus stops at Oxford Street and Clapham Junction in London until 11 September. Each one will give away 260 packets a day, with the machines topped up before 11.30am and 5pm each day.

Walkers brand ambassador Gary Lineker will appear to be sitting inside the machine, responding to tweets and vending the different flavours. Visitors will simply have to tweet @walkers_busstop and a code to get their hands on the free packets.

Launched in January, the “do us a flavour” campaign asked the public to suggest a new flavour of crisps for the chance to win £1m. The final six flavours are:

  • Sizzling steak fajita
  • Chip shop chicken curry
  • Pulled pork in a sticky BBQ sauce
  • Ranch raccoon
  • Cheesy beans on toast
  • Hot dog with tomato ketchup

The public can vote for their favourite, with the winner crowned the “Flavour Millionaire”.
