Walsh Trott wins £5m Wowgo site

Walsh Trott Chick Smith has been handed the £5m creative account for Unilever-backed teenage girls’ website Wowgo.com.

The site goes live in the UK next month, supported by above- and below-the-line advertising. Media is through Initiative Media.

Wowgo is also in discussions with financial and telecoms companies to create a range of services and products for teenage girls.

Wowgo chairman Michael Gold, who is overseeing marketing, says: “Wowgo is not just a website. We are building a lifestyle brand for teenage girls that we hope will make their lives better.

“We are talking to partners with a view to building a package of services in areas which interest girls, including fashion, cosmetics, music, confectionery and banking.”

Wowgo is backed by investors including Unilever, European interactive fund Eureka and UK investment bank Durlacher.

The site will feature lifestyle tips for teenage girls on topics including music, fashion and money.

Walsh Trott is to create TV and radio ads. Meanwhile, ads will also appear in teenage magazines such as J17, Smash Hits, Bliss, Sugar, Top of the Pops and Live ‘n’ Kicking.

The site will be launched across Europe later this year.
