What an absolutely fabulous invitation to the Promax 2006

Life is a cabaret old chum, as they say in showbiz circles, and there’s certainly a Vaudeville feel to the Promax UK 2006 Conference next month.

An invite espied by the Diary this week made some aspects of the event sound as if they would be more suited to Gerry Cottle’s big top than London’s Mermaid Theatre.

Nestling in the line-up, alongside talks from the likes of Alistair Campbell (on image management) and Will Self (possibly on jacking up on aeroplanes) and discussions on topics from the influence of James Bond films on design, was a treat that got the Diary’s mouth watering with anticipation.

Sandwiched between Self and Bond was the promise of a turn from "the fabulous Hytner brothers".

It seems that after years of pursuing their various and highly successful solo careers the Hytner Brothers have reformed, a bit like Kula Shaker.

Who knows whether Jim (Barclays marketing director), Richard (Saatchi & Saatchi chairman for EMEA) and Nicholas (film and theatre guru) will slip into tuxedos, drape Michelle Pfeiffer across a piano and entertain delegates with some smooth jazz or don garish pantaloons to produce a dextrous tumbling and juggling routine reminiscent of Cirque du Soleil.Hopefully, it won’t be the last we hear of the Fabulous Hytner Brothers.
