Woolworths launches online travel website

Woolworths%20store

Woolworths has launched an online travel website selling discount holidays, flights and hotel rooms.

The website will take on established competitors like expedia.co.uk by offering savings of up to 60% on hotels and flights from major carriers and special deals on family holidays from tour operators.

The high street retailer has teamed up with travel specialist the PPA Group to offer the deals.

Marketing director Stephen Robertson says: "The online travel market is booming and we believe we can offer customers looking to travel the best of both worlds: a trusted retail brand working with an expert in the market."

Promotion will initially be online-based with banner ads and e-mails going out to 500,000 customers on Woolworths’ database.

An in-store point-of-purchase campaign will also be implemented around the travel sections in 821 stores.
