Wunderman has been tipped to win the £18m global digital business for Nokia, following a protracted pitch. It is understood to have beaten Euro RSCG 4D and RMG Connect to scoop the account.

It is believed that the agency will work closely with global advertising agency Wieden & Kennedy and will work as a local activation agency, but will also work across online advertising, web design and digital strategy.

The mobile handset giant previously used several agencies in different countries. In the UK, the business is expected to come out of incumbent Work Club.

The digital review was called in January, but is understood to have been stalled by an ongoing review of the company’s global structure.

At the end of last year, Nokia UK completed a major restructure of its marketing department, appointing Chris Leong, the former Nokia marketing chief in China, to run its new marketing services division (MW December 20).

Last month, it moved the £100m N-Series business into Wieden & Kennedy from Lowe London, and it is also reviewing its global sponsorship account, which is currently handled by the InterPublic Group agencies, including Rivet and Jack Morton (MW October 2).

The move completes a year of changes for Nokia, which moved the global retail and trade marketing business into JWT in January.

In the UK, Nokia’s trade marketing account is handled by RMG Connect, a sister WPP agency, which is now 100% owned by JWT.

RMG’s ownership hadpreviously been split with Ogilvy Advertising and Wunderman.
