Xbox signs content deal with NBC Universal

Xbox has signed a deal with NBC Universal to allow people to download a range of HD films including Carlito’s Way, Scarface and How High to the console.

The initial catalogue of 30 films will be available on a rental basis for £2.08 each. NBC’s content joins a download service which already includes titles from Warner Bros and Paramount Pictures.

Xbox Live is aiming to position itself as an entertainment resource by signing such content deals.

Speaking to new media age, Neil Thompson, head of Xbox UK & Ireland, said, “Consumers are demanding more content from devices such as Xbox, which in turn means providers like us are looking to give broader, richer, deeper, more varied entertainment experiences.”

It has also announced plans to launch interactive quiz show 1 vs 100 which allows gamers to challenge each other via Xbox Live.
