Y2K Tapestry pinpoints funds

What is the largest millennium project that 370,000 children in 1,700 primary and special schools up and down the land have been beavering away on for months?

Here’s a clue: it’s the same project the New Millennium Experience Company felt it was unable to help fund.

The Millennium Tapestry is a giant patchwork to which each school has contributed one embroidered square metre.

Parts of it will be displayed at exhibitions throughout the year, and it is hoped a “virtual” photographic version will be shown in the Dome.

The Millennium Tapestry Company was relying on funding which didn’t materialise, and is now hoping to sew up some sponsorship deals.
