Young women encouraged to get involved in General Election

Young women are being encouraged to get involved in the General Election campaign through a series of cartoon postcards being distributed in the run-up to the poll. About 50,000 of the cards will be distributed free in cinemas across England and Wales from Friday. The five different designs will also be sent to youth organisations. Young women are being encouraged to take part in the campaign and send the cards to schools, parents and political candidates to demand better sex and relationship education. The cards, which highlight how political decisions affect people’s everyday lives, have been created by artist Rosie Brooks and Boomerang Media for the YWCA. Polls have shown that only 18 per cent of women aged between 18 and 24 intend to vote in the election.
