National Magazine Company, publisher of Cosmopolitan, Company and Men’s Health, has appointed Arnaud de Puyfontaine as chief executive officer.
De Puyfontaine (pictured) joins from Group Mondadori France and takes over from Duncan Edwards who left to become president and CEO of Hearst Magazines International, a unit of Hearst Corporation which owns NatMags, last month.
He became president of Mondadori France following its acquisition of Emap France in 2006 before taking the role of special advisor to the company’s vice-chairman and CEO last July.
He joined Emap France in 1995 before becoming CEO in 1998.
De Puyfontaine says: “The National Magazine Company is one that I have known and admired for a long time and I’m pleased to be joining as CEO.
“Both NatMag and Hearst are renowned for the quality of their editorial products and the professionalism of their business approach and I am looking forward to being part of that culture.”
Last month NatMag announced it was to make up to 100 people redundant as its restructures in the face of worsening economic conditions.
The publisher is to lose approximately 15 per cent of its head count across the whole business.
