Operators reveal iPad prices as pre-ordering opens

Apple is today launching the UK pre-order process for the iPad, with mobile operators also announcing details of their supporting 3G price plans for the device.

Orange has confirmed it will launch pre-registration for iPad customers along with daily, weekly and monthly data price plans for those using the device on its network.

Its prices range from 5p per 1Mb for pre-paid users to £25 a month for a 10Gb allowance for Orange subscribers.

O2 plans range from £2 a day for pre-paid users to £15 a month for a 3Gb allowance for subscribers.

Vodafone’s prices range from £10 for 250Mb a month to £25 for 5Gb a month.

The iPad will start retailing at £429, rising to £599 depending on memory capacity, for the Wi-Fi-only models; those with 3G connecitivity will cost from £529 to £699.

The iBooks app, which includes Apple’s iBookstore, will be available as a free download from the App Store on 28 May.
