nuTonomy

nuTonomy develops software for self-driving cars, and aims to be the first company in the world to deliver an autonomous taxi service. It plans to launch a commercial offering in 2018.

Co-founded by Karl Iagnemma and Professor Emilio Frazzoli, the company is based on more than 10 years of research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

It currently operates an R&D fleet of autonomous vehicles in Singapore and also operates selfdriving cars in Michigan and the UK, where it tests software in partnership with motor companies including Jaguar Land Rover.

In May 2016, nuTonomy completed a $16m (£12.4m) Series A funding led by Highland Capital Partners, including prior investors Fontinalis Partners and Signal Ventures, as well as EDBI, the dedicated corporate investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board, and Samsung Ventures.

In September, the company is expected to start integrating its software into customised Peugeot 3008 models for on-road testing of fully autonomous cars in Singapore.
