Arts Council England appoints digital agencies

artscouncil.gifThe Arts Council England, the national development agency for the arts, has appointed four agencies to its digital roster. Preloaded, Cogapp, Deconstruct, Net Efficiency have will now work on the business.

The appointment follows a tender process regulated by the EU. The Arts Council says it set a criteria that included creativity, technical expertise, project management, value to for money and ability to deliver services across the UK.

London-based Preloaded will work specifically on the redevelopment of the corporate website, while the other agencies will work on other large and small specific projects.

The Arts Council of Great Britain was a post-war descendant of the Committee for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts. It was abolished in 1994 to form the Arts Council of England, the Arts Council off Wales and the Scottish Arts Council. It supports a wide range of artistic activities, including theatre, music, literature, dance and photography.

Between 2008 and 2011, it will invest £1.3bn of public money from the Government and a further £0.3bn from the National Lottery into artistic experiences for consumers.
