British Gas recruits boss to head pricing strategy
British Gas Trading has appointed food marketer Rupert Trevelyan to the role of head of segment marketing.
Trevelyan was previously UK head of promotions at food company The Compass Group’s international branded foodservice division. His appointment follows the arrival of former Coca-Cola marketer Andrew Mann, as British Gas’ head of marketing, last month (MW February 15).
Trevelyan and Mann both report to acting director of marketing Kath Kyle, who replaced Ian El-Mokadem, now managing director of Centrica Telecommunications. Centrica is the parent company of British Gas Trading.
As head of segment marketing, Trevelyan will be responsible for pricing, new product development and marketing plans for individual business areas. Mann is responsible for advertising, campaign planning, affinity marketing and direct marketing.
Mann replaced Colin Woodcock, who left the company in October after being in the job for two months. Woodcock, formerly head of brand marketing at Barclaycard, rejoined the credit card company as its head of marketing strategy.
A spokesman for British Gas Trading says: “The appointment of Trevelyan is part of restructuring within the organisation and strengthens our marketing department.”
British Gas Trading markets gas and electricity in the UK through its British Gas and Scottish Gas brands. It has about 14 million gas and 4 million electricity customers.
