Carlsberg-Tetley is launching a cola version of its alcoholic soft drink brand, Lemonheads.
The alcoholic lemonade – which the company says is still in research – is expected to be on sale next month and will be followed by a blackcurrant and a cola flavour in the new year provisionally called Blackheads and Colaheads. Other flavours are expected to follow.
“The packaging will change each month and with each variant,” says one inside source.
“Lemonheads will be appearing before Christmas and the other varieties will follow in the new year.”
But Carlsberg-Tetley insists that it has not taken any decision on launching products through its recently created new product development unit specialising in “new age” drinks (MW October 27).
“There are a number of concepts that we are considering for product innovations. All are being tested, researched and checked to assess consumer support,” says the unit’s head, Clive Briscoe, marketing controller for lagers.
