Nestlé Rowntree will launch the first five-finger Kit Kat as a limited edition in August.

Nestlé Rowntree will launch the first five-finger Kit Kat as a limited edition in August.

The bar will sell at the same price as the original milk chocolate four-finger packs – 27p – with the offer of 25 per cent extra free. It will be available from August 10 for between four and six weeks.

Kit Kat is the UK’s top selling confectionery brand, with sales of more than 210m in 1997.

Nestlé Rowntree has launched a number of limited edition Kit Kats, including orange and mint flavours, and Kit Kats with packaging that turns blue in the fridge, to encourage people to eat chocolate during the summer months.

A Nestlé Rowntree spokesman says: “The four-finger bar is a unique property for Kit Kat and the five-finger edition is an imaginative way of demonstrating a value for money proposition.”

The company is spending 8m on advertising for Kit Kat this year through J Walter Thompson. The bar was linked with Nescafé coffee in a tactical ad campaign last year.
