Former Sega marketer to join Activision
Activision has hired Alison Turner as head of marketing for UK and Europe except France, Germany and the Nordic countries. She will report to UK general manager Roger Walkden.
Turner was formerly UK marketing director at Sega Europe, where she oversaw the launch of the Dreamcast console. She joins Activision from her role as marketing director for Roxio, which supplies digital software.
Her appointment follows the promotion of Sarah Ewing, who is now general manager of LucasArts in Europe. Activision distributes LucasArts games in Europe, and Ewing will continue to manage marketing activities for all LucasArts’ products.
Turner has more than ten years’ experience in the interactive entertainment industry, having worked at Ubisoft Entertainment, BMG Interactive and Philips Media.
Activision is one of five software publishers which will provide games for the forthcoming Nokia N-Gage gaming mobile phone. The others are Eidos, Sega, Taito and THQ. Advertising for N-Gage will be handled by Grey Worldwide London and will break in the autumn, ahead of the product’s launch at the end of the year (MW April 3).
