Expedia head to take TVTS reins

Beverly Shaw, the chief marketer at Expedia, has taken the reins at sister company TV Travel Shop, following the axeing of marketing director Andrea Evans, a former Thomson Holidays brand manager. Shaw will be responsible for both brands.

Shaw joined Expedia as marketing director in November last year. She is a former Coca-Cola marketing manager and British Airways project manager (MW October 31, 2002).

TV Travel Shop, a cable channel which sells holidays direct to consumers, has undergone considerable upheaval since July, when chief executive and co-founder Harry Goodman and managing director Seamus Conlan were shown the door.

The changes follow the acquisition of TV Travel Shop last year by US media group InterActiveCorp, which owns online operation Expedia. Since Goodman’s departure, Expedia UK managing director Dermot Halpin has run TV Travel Shop.

In November, Shaw initiated an advertising review at Expedia, appointing Clemmow Hornby Inge to the £2.6m account, previously handled by Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper. An offline media review is under way.

TV Travel Shop has been working with Mustoes and the company spent £750,000 on advertising for the year to March (Nielsen Media Research), but a spokesman says that advertising will now be handled on a project basis.
