The move from Dennis is the latest in a series of pushes on digital content, which have included expanding e-zine Monkey internationally and making lads’ title Maxim online only.
Kontraband built its following of 18-34 year old men by hosting popular viral videos, games, blogs and forums.
The five staff which edit the site will be retained, and merge with those from Dennis’s online brand Monkey.
James Tye, CEO of Dennis Publishing said, “Kontraband.com is a huge site with a growing community that will sit perfectly alongside our other digital brands, especially Monkey.”
Kontraband, which was previously owned by Diffusion Media Group, claims over 2.2m unique users per month.
