12Bet.com supports European move with ID checking

Asian betting site operator 12Bet.com is moving into the European market and implementing an online identity verification service. GB Group will provide support through its ID3 system for international ID management.

Accurate vetting of customers is critical to sustain the gaming and vetting market, following a recent ruling that European member states can ban sites to help combat fraud and protect consumers.

“Following our strategic entry into the European market, a key requirement for us was to be able to accurately verify identities across borders,” said Rory Anderson, CEO for Europe at 12Bet.com. “GB Group’s solution perfectly complements our existing Know Your Customer and anti-fraud policies and procedures, helping us to achieve our goal.”

“By helping us meet our regulatory requirements, we can continue to operate responsibly and transparently – a fundamental approach in the way we do business,” said Anderson.

ID3 follows a risk-based approach which allows more than 800 million citizens in 26 countries to be verified, allowing the betting site to block individuals from countries where it does not want to do business. It also meets the company’s needs for fraud prevention.
