TSMS appoints outsider to top job
Airtime sales house TSMS has recruited Rosie Faulkner, board director of TMD Carat, as its marketing and client sales director.
Jerry Hill, chief executive of TSMS, says he deliberately opted to recruit a TV industry outsider with a media planning background for the role. Faulkner is expected to join in October.
The appointment follows Hill’s surprise hiring of fellow TV industry outsider Adam Rhodes as chief operating officer in February. Rhodes arrives at TSMS after spells as a management consultant and a Procter & Gamble marketer.
“This business used to be pretty much a matter of handling and managing negotiations. But now we are having to work harder to get people to come to the party, and that requires different skills,” says Hill.
“Her job will be to get out and about and lead a team of 26 people, making sure that our airtime is marketed properly to both agencies and their clients.”
Faulkner will report to Rhodes, and sit on its management board alongside Andy Farwell, sales negotiation director; Ian Davies, agency sales director; Sue Mosley, strategic planning director; and Tim Brady, sponsorship director.
She leaves TMD Carat after five years at the agency. Previously she has worked at CIA, Colman RSCG and publishers International Thomson.
