Lunn Poly hands innovations role to marketer

Thomson-owned travel agents chain Lunn Poly has appointed marketing director Peter Povey to the new post of customer innovations director.

Lunn Poly is appointing headhunters to find a replacement for Povey, who will retain his responsibilities until the post is filled.

Povey will oversee the introduction of Lunn Poly travel sub-brands in the high street, with the aim of appealing to different segments of the market.

The company has recently opened its first late booking shop, called Getaway, in Coventry. National roll-out is expected if the format is successful. Getaway customers find holidays and special travel offers by browsing through interactive monitors which dispense with brochures.

Povey may also oversee the opening of call centres for direct bookings, which are becoming increasingly popular.

Povey says: “This is a significant change in Lunn Poly’s strategy. We are dedicated to finding new ways to attract and serve our customers”

Lunn Poly uses WCRS for its creative work and Mediapolis for its media buying.
