Little Chef and Smash! Hits launch kids’ CD promotion

Smash! Hits, EMAP’s music magazine for youngsters, is launching a promotion with Little Chef, the roadside restaurant chain.

The companies have enlisted artist management company BMG to launch the £250,000 summer marketing campaign, which aims to attract families with children.

The campaign will give children the chance to pick up a free Smash! Hits CD with every Little Chef Kids Fun Meal, between July and September.

Children will also be able to choose from special edition singles by various artists including Westlife, Five and BBMAK. The compilation singles have been exclusively produced by Smash! Hits and BMG for Little Chef.

The summer promotion will include A3 poster menus featuring food options, quizzes and music gossip. Banners and posters highlighting the promotion will be erected at all Little Chef sites.

The chain’s website, little-chef.co.UK, will have an area dedicated to the Smash Hits! promotion. The EMAP magazine will support the campaign with a Little Chef lollipop covermounted on its July 11 edition.

Little Chef marketing and sales director Jill Brown says: “This promotion reflects Little Chef’s radical approach to the way it markets the brand to a youth readership.”

Little Chef is owned by the Compass Group’s UK Roadside division and has more than 400 outlets in the UK. The restaurant chain recently ran promotions with Thunderbirds and Scooby Doo.
