Innogy scraps its Yorkshire Electricity brand

Power group Innogy, the parent company of npower, is planning to scrap the Yorkshire Electricity brand and integrate the business with the npower brand.

The regional brand, which was acquired by Innogy in February this year, will be phased out over an unspecified period. It is unclear whether Yorkshire Electricity’s advertising agency Rapier, will retain any business.

The chief executive of Yorkshire Electricity, Graham Hall, retired in January this year and has not been replaced. Marketing and retail sales manager Sue Amies-King left the company at the time of the acquisition, and managing director of its supply business, Bill Wilkinson, also quit following its acquisition.

Npower marketing director David Andrew has taken responsibility for the Yorkshire Electricity brand. Andrew is also the divisional director of npower, with responsibility for residential matters.

A spokeswoman for Innogy says: “No definite plans have been decided upon.” The integration of the Yorkshire Electricity brand with the npower brand will result in 300 jobs losses at Yorkshire Electricity.
