The Independent is reviewing its £3m advertising account with an agency expected to be appointed by the end of the year. The newspaper is holding meetings with a number of agencies and is understood to be looking to shortlist four agencies.
It is not known if Chick Smith Trott, the incumbent on the account, will be repitching. Digital advertising is thought to form part of the brief. Media planning and buying, held by Walker Media, is not affected by the review.
The Independent has traditionally relied on tactical TV campaigns to promote its supplements. The latest Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABCs) figures show the Independent’s circulation fell 6.7% to 240,134.
