BT will be the official communications partner for the England 2018 bid, offering advice and support.
Speaking today, Gavin Patterson, chief executive of BT Retail said the telecoms company will “use its marketing power and huge customer base to help the bid”.
Patterson added the company is still working on its marketing plans.
Accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers became the first sponsor of England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup in October last year.
The accountancy firm will be the official “business adviser” to the campaign.
The bid was officially launched in May with a presentation at Wembley Stadium featuring footballers David Beckham and Wayne Rooney and Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Wembley’s commercial director Jonathan Gregory was appointed as director of partnerships to secure sponsorship deals to back the bid in May.
