BBC hunts top marketer for corporate operation

The BBC is seeking a senior marketer for its Corporate Centre division, after filling the marketing director’s job at BBC Broadcast.

Paul Twivy, former managing director of Bates Dorland, is still understood to be in conversation with the BBC after Sue Farr, BBC Broadcast’s marketing controller, took the marketing director’s job at BBC Broadcast.

The BBC refused to comment on how many other people were in line for the Corporate Centre job but Jane Frost, head of corporate and brand marketing, is thought to be a likely candidate. The BBC maintains that no final decision has been made to create the new role.

The marketing position at Corporate Centre will report to Colin Browne, director of corporate affairs on the BBC’s executive committee. The job will not oversee marketing for television and radio services, but is described by a source as setting marketing strategy for the whole BBC brand.

Corporate Centre was created under John Birt’s restructure, along with five other directorates: BBC Broadcast; BBC News; BBC Production; BBC Worldwide; and BBC Resources.

The Corporate Centre’s remit is to provide strategic services for the rest of the organisation.
