Campbell picks marketing boss

Ex-Clairol executive takes the reins after previous incumbent is given senior European role

Campbell Grocery Products has appointed former Clairol marketer Tim Perman as its marketing director.

Perman, who joins in mid-September, was Clairol’s European marketing director. When Procter & Gamble acquired Clairol for &£3.4bn last year it announced plans to make 750 redundancies worldwide, and Perman resigned his position in March.

Perman replaces Andrew Slamin, who was promoted to European category director this year (MW March 21). Rob Rees, who has been covering the role in the interim, is transferring to Campbell’s Irish operation in a troubleshooting role.

Campbell has been undergoing a restructure since acquiring the Oxo and Batchelors brands from Unilever in May 2001. Alison Levett, Campbell’s managing director and former marketing chief, who left to “pursue other interests”, was replaced by Brian Mirsky, former president of Campbell in Canada (MW July 4). European president Pierre Laubies also left to head Mars’ South American operation.

In the UK, Campbell has appointed Jon Elms, a former Masterfoods marketer, as Homepride marketing controller and Paul Rees to the same position for the Batchelors brand. Rees joins from RHM, where he had responsibility for Hovis.

Campbell employs 24,000 people worldwide and owns more than 20 businesses, each with sales of more than &£100m.
