The Barclays Cyclea Hire Scheme launches today as part of Mayor Boris Johnson’s drive to encourage cycling in the capital.

Clear Channel claims that cyclists are twice as likely to encounter out-of-home media and travel at slower speeds than cars and bus traffic, which increases their dwell time.

It has developed portfolio of 6-sheet and phone box panels within 100m proximity to the new docking stations for the hire bikes and along the Barlcays Cycle Superhighway routes created as part of the cycle scheme, to enable advertisers to engage with cyclists.

Richard Bon, Clear Channel’s planning and support director, says: “Cycling is now undeniably part of the fabric of everyday life in London and our inventory together with our flexible planning can place advertisers at the heart of this new cycling revolution.

“Brands can combine the use of our Cycling in the City campaigns with our existing offerings such as park proximity, keep fitters or proximity to cycling stores and really start to maximise the power of out-of-home.”

The Barclays cycle scheme is expected to add 55,000 additional cycle trips around London per day.
