Calvin Klein poaches Sony chief for new role

US fashion brand Calvin Klein has created the post of global marketing chief and poached senior Sony executive Harlan Bratcher to fill it.

Bratcher joins as senior vice-president of marketing. He was formerly senior vice-president for Sony Retail Development and a member of Sony’s strategic marketing committee.

Bratcher will be in charge of global advertising, marketing and PR for all brands including Calvin Klein Collection, cK and cK Calvin Klein Jeans – spanning clothing, footwear, accessories, eyewear and watches.

Bratcher will report to president and chief operating officer Tom Murry.

Senior executives reporting to Bratcher include: Dawn Jacobs, senior vice-president of in-house agency CRK advertising; Noona Smith Petersen, senior vice-president international PR and advertising; Sydney Bachman, senior vice-president and fashion director. They will continue to report to Calvin Klein on creative issues.

The marketing position was created following the departure of Robert Triefus, vice-president of communications worldwide, who left after three years to join rival fashion house Giorgio Armani in April.

A spokeswoman for Calvin Klein says Bratcher’s job is more senior than the one held by Triefus because of additional corporate marketing and marketing planning functions. She says: “Bratcher is a great addition to the senior executive team that we’re building to manage and develop Calvin Klein business around the world.”
