Welsh Development Agency reviews £2m ad business

The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) is reviewing its £2m advertising and media planning and buying account, held by Golley Slater & Partners.

The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) is reviewing its &£2m advertising and media planning and buying account, held by Golley Slater & Partners.

The WDA is also searching for a direct marketing agency. The bulk of its direct marketing work is handled by Golley Slater and supported by local agencies.

The review will be handled by marketing communications manager Jon Iles, with the final decision approved by director of marketing Gareth John. John was appointed last November and was previously sales and marketing director for the commercial division of the Met Office (MW October 11, 2001).

The WDA helps develop and support small business ventures in Wales. It recently launched a bilingual quarterly magazine, Busnes, for the Welsh business community. Redwood handles the publishing and the next issue is due in January.

Business start-ups in Wales increased 60 per cent in the first half of this year compared with the same period in 2001. The WDA has helped to start 2025 new ventures, and in its half yearly report forecasts it will meet the job target set for it by the Welsh Assembly Government. By the end of March 2003, the agency aims to have helped create 31,000 jobs.
