Bradford & Bingley has lost its chief marketer Warren Langley less than a year after he took up post. He was appointed director of marketing communications in May last year.

He was one of two replacements for Mark Howe, who left when his role of group marketing director was axed. Langley’s appointment followed a reorganisation at the bank in 2004.

Langley took charge of a brand overhaul in an attempt to modernise the company’s image, best known for its “bowler hat” motif. He also spearheaded several reviews, moving business from London to the regions.

In September the bank moved its &£3.5m creative account, held by M&C Saatchi for eight years, to Cheetham Bell JWT in Manchester. The Partners and Value Engineers were appointed in July 2005 to collaborate on a brand overhaul.

He also reviewed its media planning and buying, which is believed to be shifting from Starcom to MediaCom North. It is not known whether Langley, a former Coors beer brand director, has a job to go to. Bradford & Bingley has confirmed it is hunting for a replacement.
