Burton in talks with agencies over project

Burton, the Arcadia-owned menswear chain, is talking to agencies about handling its marketing business.

The brief focuses on below-the-line work and will be awarded on a project basis, rather than as an ongoing account. A spokesman for Burton’s marketing department says the retailer is in discussions with a small number of agencies, but is aiming to avoid a formal pitch to hurry the process along.

The chain called off a previous pitch before Christmas due to a restructure that involved Wesley Taylor taking over as brand director from Francis Russell, who now oversees the Evans brand at Arcadia. At the time, a shortlist had been cut down to just two agencies, Fallon and Yellow Door.
