Pet’s Pyjamas, the home shopping company, has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi to handle its &£15m pan-European advertising account.

The business covers the company’s Internet portal site PetsPyjamas.com, its mail-order catalogue business and interactive TV.

Saatchi will devise a TV advertising campaign to run in Pet’s Pyjamas’ core markets in the UK, Germany, and France. The majority of the spend will be concentrated in these three countries, with ads also running in Scandinavia.

The Internet portal site sells a range of pet supplies and includes content from third-parties, such as leisure business Country Holidays.

Pet’s Pyjamas founder and managing director Charles Fallon says: “The business has moved quickly from start-up to market benchmark, and I am confident the team at Saatchi can keep up with us as we continue to evolve.”

Saatchi European chairman Derek Bowden adds: “Pan-European dot.com businesses present an exciting challenge to agencies. Pet’s Pyjamas is particularly attractive because its Internet operation is only one of its channels.”
