The Walt Disney Company has appointed Tessa Moore as its UK marketing chief.
Moore will report directly to Peter Morris, Walt Disney’s UK managing director. She moves from the company’s software division – Disney Interactive – where she was marketing chief for the UK and Nordic regions.
The new position has been created as part of a drive by Disney to create better co-ordination between its divisions and boost profits.
Working with all the Disney lines of business in the UK, Moore’s brief is to help create and execute UK promotional programmes to support Disney’s characters, properties and franchises.
Moore will also be in charge of establishing long-term relationships with UK retailers and creating closer links with alliance partners such as Coca-Cola, American Express, Kodak, McDonald’s and Nestlé.
Disney recently appointed 141, the Cordiant-owned through-the-line ad agency, to handle the negotiating rights for its third-party promotions across the whole portfolio of Disney characters (MW January 18).
The appointment marked the first time Disney has appointed an agency with sole negotiating rights for third-party promotions.
The agency was appointed because Disney is looking for new partners in areas where it does not already have existing, exclusive partnerships.
Moore has worked at Disney for five years and previously worked at Philips and Virgin.
