Unilever Frozen Food & Ice Cream is relaunching Eighties favourite Funny Foot. The foot-shaped lolly will come in strawberry and vanilla flavour, but the relaunched version will have a dipped-chocolate big toe.

Unilever hopes Funny Foot will appeal to parents who ate the product as children. It will be available singly and in multi-packs. Unilever is also launching a rocket-shaped lolly, again aiming to cash in on the nostalgia of younger parents.

The relaunches are part of a major ice cream push from Unilever. The company is understood to have earmarked up to £23m to support its full range of products, in particular Magnum, Cornetto and Carte D’Or. There will be a number of new products in these flagship ranges, including Magnum Intense, which has a truffle centre, and the limited-edition Cornetto Love Potions range.

Unilever has also launched Slim-Fast Ice Cream in the UK, as first predicted in Marketing Week (MW March 13, 2003). The company is understood to be considering low-fat variants of Magnum and Carte D’Or.
