New access for PAF data

Royal Mail’s Address Management Unit is expanding the access channels for its postcode address file following the appointment of a new supplier.

AFD Software has won a tender to develop innovative ways of distributing PAF to direct customers and licensed resellers. AFD has been a PAF reseller for 15 years.

AMU has already agreed two new media formats with AFD – enhanced CD and FTP. The file transfer method will allow for instant access to PAF and will shortly be developed further to provide daily access to around 5,000 daily updates.

Customer communications will also be part of the new arrangement. Email will be triggered to customers telling them when data is ready to download or that a CD has been despatched. Online tracing of CDs will also be enabled.

Miranda Dodd, head of Royal Mail’s Address Management Unit, says: “This is one of the most significant developments in the production and distribution of PAF for many years. We selected AFD as they have a proven track record in introducing new technology and new media, and we are sure our customers will be pleased with the new enhanced formats which will be available.”
