Schwartz is general manager of the two brands, with overall responsibility for sales and marketing.
Prior to L’Oreal, his most recent role was at News International where he held the position of commercial director and chief marketing officer.
He joined The Sun and News of the World publisher in January 2009 but left after nine months, following a review of the marketing team carried out by chief executive Rebekah Brooks.
Schwartz previously worked at L’Oreal in the 90s when he spent five years as UK marketing director.
He has held a number of senior marketing positions including stints as brand director at Sainsbury’s and director of marketing and innovation in Europe for Coca-Cola.
Schwartz replaces Damien Bertrand, who left in July to take up the role of global brand president for Maybelline New York.
