Sneed, currently company group chairman for J&J Vision Care, will take on the vice president of global corporate affairs role in January and oversee J&J’s global marketing activity and corporate reputation, according to AdAge in the US.

J&J, which celebrates its 125th year in 2012, has faced a number of product recalls in the US in recent years and Sneed will be tasked with rebuilding the company’s reputation.

He will report to chairman and CEO William Weldon, who is reported to have said in a statement that Sneed will be tasked with “ensuring that our enterprise strategies are effectively adopted by our businesses, to better align our global functions to support our growth, and to provide a dedicated focus to all aspects of our reputation.”

The consumer healthcare firm’s current top global marketer Brian Perkins is set to retire in March.
